CALL FOR PAPERS: Spanish & Portuguese Linguistics
The Spanish Linguistics Graduate Students at Arizona State University are honored to invite you to our inaugural Hispanic & Luso-Brazilian Linguistics conference (website: http://asulingconf2012.blogspot.com). The conference offers an opportunity for graduate students of Spanish & Portuguese linguistics to share their current research. Our keynote speakers will also present research on topics in Spanish SLA & Sociolinguistics.

The conference calls for linguistic analyses of all Spanish & Portuguese varieties, including the Iberian Peninsula, Latin America, North America & Africa. These different empirical, historical or theoretical perspectives could be research on, for example: language contact, language instruction, typology, language in context, universal grammar or language in the social context. Topics may include, but are not limited to:

  • Portuguese Linguistics
  • Sociolinguistics
  • Bilingualism & Code-switching
  • Morphology, Syntax & Semantics
  • Acquisition of 2nd (SLA) & 3rd languages

Participants should send their abstracts to asulingconf2012@gmail.com.  The subject of the email should read "Conference Abstract". Please include: Title of presentation, an Abstract of the presentation (250 word max) in English, Spanish or Portuguese, Author & School, Email address, a brief CV(or attached) & any audiovisual accommodations required. We encourage students to submit abstracts as soon as possible.

*Presenters will be admitted & notified on a rolling basis*. The deadline for abstract submission has been extended to January 20th, 2012. Presentations may be up to 20 minutes and in Spanish, English or Portuguese, followed by 10 minutes of discussion & questions. The conference registration fee is $25.
